Disclaimer 1: Family Units

I want to acknowledge the many different types of loving family units from the idea of the traditional family of mum, dad and baby to the families of a single parent, same-sex parents, those children who live with adoptive or foster parents and those children who have full, half-siblings or step-siblings. I want to acknowledge the babies who have been conceived naturally, those born from a surrogate mum or gestational carrier and those whose conceptions were assisted. I respect gender identity.

The developing interrelationships between parents, children and the extended family are very complex and need to be considered on a case-by-case basis. For ease of writing and for the purpose of this book in which I will be developing the concepts of Baby Body Language, particularly from the child’s perspective, I will be referring to the family as parents or the mum and dad and using the male and female pronouns. Please adjust as befits your family and experience.
